Ceramic Portraits Workshop
6-8:30PM 2nd Friday of the month
Service Description
Invite your friend, partner, or someone you want to know better for portrait night! Using water-based clay and intuitive techniques, you’ll learn the basics of portraiture and sculpture to make lasting 3D portraits of each other. Drawings, caricature, abstraction, and positive creativity will be encouraged as each person makes something that resembles another. The workshop is open to those of any skill level and all materials will be provided. The instructor will begin with an introduction to clay as a medium, meanwhile demonstrating what to look for when doing live portraiture. As the workshop goes on, the instructor will walk around and be present to answer questions, guide, and assist each person individually. Whether you're a beginner or experienced, our Hand-building Workshops cater to all skill levels. Each session focuses on a unique hand-building project, allowing you to explore diverse techniques and styles. Our workshops provide a supportive and inspiring environment to nurture your creative journey. The workshop instructor will start by demonstrating the project listed for the session. Following the demonstration, participants have the freedom to either follow the project or explore their creativity with other ideas. The instructor will be available throughout to assist, answer questions, and demonstrate techniques to aid participants. If a participant is creating something that the instructor deems not suitable for firing, they will explain specific size and shape restrictions to ensure that all projects have optimal chances of surviving the firing process. While these workshops are primarily designed for all-ages, teens and kids are welcome when accompanied by an adult. Your finished pieces will be fired and ready for pickup within 30 days of the workshop date. Please note that all participants must sign up online before the workshop start time, walk-in participants may be turned away due to limited space. All workshops require a minimum of 2 participants to proceed. If the minimum number of participants is not met 48 hours before the workshop, registered participants will receive a cancellation notification. They will be given the option of a full refund, the choice of another workshop of equal value, or the chance to invite friends to reach the minimum. Participants can continue to book until the start time of the workshop. We maintain a maximum of 12 participants per workshop to ensure ample workspace and personalized instruction.
